President Obama and the plan to refit Federal buildings with renewable power generating hardware are garnering an appreciable momentum as the country is becoming more ecologically minded. Green energy and sustainable materials are on the forefront of many a mind. Thus, there are the obvious benefits associated with this form of alternative energy.

There are other benefits, which are mentioned in conjunction with Obama and the plan to refit Federal buildings, namely the generation of a new niche of jobs. Green collar jobs, an interesting moniker attacked to employment opportunities related to anything having to do with sound energy generation. They are said to receive huge funding boosters from both federal and state budgets.

There are three main power plant technologies used today in geothermal power plants. These technologies are used to convert hydrothermal fluids to electricity. Each type depends on the state of the fluid and its temperature.

Dry steam power plants were the first geothermal power plants of their kind. They traditionally use steam to produce electricity. This is done by taking steam from the geothermal reservoir and routing it through turbine units. The most common types of these plants are flash steam plants where water is pumped at high pressures at the surface.

Climate change is a long-term significant change in the expected patterns of what we consider average weather in any one specific region. This is a significant occurrence over a period of time. Climate change can be seen in abnormal variations in temperature, weather, etc. We have seen this first hand in the severity of hurricanes, tsunamis’ and earthquakes around the globe.

Our planet’s temperature is increasing and with this rise in temperature our planet is changing. The arctic is melting and species are being threatened with extinction. Scientists are predicting flooding that will submerge well-known cities across the globe.

Geothermal energy is energy generated from the heat stored in the earth. This energy resource is a renewable resource, which is a natural resource naturally replenished such as sunlight, rain or wind.

Geothermal energy is most commonly used through Binary Cycle power plants. Pumps are used to pump hot water from a geothermal well in the earth to a heat exchanger, which cools the water and returns it to a reservoir.
