Newbies to green living oftentimes struggle with the definition of renewable energy. To some, it is a newfangled idea that is sure to come and go, like so many green fads before it. To sit down and face realism, this source of energy is up to much stipulation from the government.

As always, the truth is found somewhere in the middle; in simplest terms, the definition of renewable energy merely stipulates that this form of energy comes from a source that naturally replaced without the interference of mankind.

Sunlight,hydroelectric power, and wood (to a more limited extent) are considered examples of renewable energy. Since the latter is very slow in being replenished, it is not usually counted among naturally replaceable energy resources, keeping it from actually being a form a renewable energy. Extracting energy from the earth should have little to no impact on our environment and it does not take a huge amount of energy to turn green energy into electricity you can use at home.

Organizations are readying themselves in being aware of how certain energy can perform for them. To this end, wind farms and solar panel stations are now following the definition of renewable energy and seek to offer consumers eco friendly electricity as part of the energy they offer.

Homeowners themselves are also beginning to harness this form of energy on larger scales, and it is not unusual to see a number of homes with home solar panels, and some even with smaller wind turbines.
